Bible Studies/Small Groups

"There is nothing more beautiful than to be surprised by the Gospel, by the encounter
with Christ.  There is nothing more beautiful than to know Him and to speak to others
of our friendship with Him."

- Pope Benedict XVI, Inaugural Mass

Bible studies are small groups of students that meet weekly for Bible studies/book studies in order to grow in faith, enjoy fellowship with other Catholic Christians, and discuss Scripture and topics relevant to our lives.  Students are invited to take an active role in their faith by participating in a small group in order to know God more, seek answers to questions, and remain open to the ways in which God acts in our lives.  See the testimony below to get a better sense of what small groups are all about.

Testimony of Alexis Schuler, UW freshman:

My small group has been awesome for helping me to see the bible as a source of comfort and inspiration.  We read the same readings I have heard in church for my whole life, but the booklets and our leaders asked us some questions that really formed a bridge to today's world...That was what was so cool.  It was real and applicable to my life as a college student.

More important than anything I could ever learn theologically though, has been the connection I have made to the seven girls in my group.  Getting together every week is a source of motivation for me to keep pushing forward.  These girls have become as close to me as my sisters and roommates.  We laugh together, we cry together, we cook together, we pray together.  Struggling or strong, I know these girls will be there if I ever need a faith friend.  When I think of our group I have this image of total peace--heads bowed in prayer, bibles and notepads and cookies across the floor, smiles all around.
