Liturgy
Lector: Ministers of the Word proclaim the Word of God, drawing the assembly more deeply into the mystery being celebrated. They prepare the readings in advance. With dignity and reverence they approach the ambo and proclaim the readings in a strong, clear voice. Check out the USCCB guidelines for more clear instructions.
Commitment Involved: Ministers of the Word are trained periodically, then scheduled on a rotating basis.
Extra-ordinary Minister of Communion: Ministers of the Eucharist distribute the Body and Blood of Christ to the gathered assembly. Check out the USCCB guidelines for more instructions.
Commitment Involved: Ministers of the Eucharist must attend training, and are scheduled on a rotating basis.
Sacristans prepare the chapel for the celebration of the liturgy. They care for and deal with the sacred objects and books used during the liturgy. They also work with the liturgical ministers, giving guidance and instructions as needed.
Commitment Involved: Sacristans agree to serve either each week or bi-weekly at one of the weekend liturgies.
Usher: Ministers of Welcome extend hospitality and welcome to the people who assemble to worship. They distribute hymnals and other printed materials, collect the offering from the community, guide people in the communion procession, and attend to any unexpected needs.
Commitment Involved: Ministers of Welcome are scheduled on a rotating basis.
